The bathroom is one of the most often used and yet underappreciated rooms in the home. If you consider your bathroom to be less than stellar, and not an inviting place to be, then it's time to do something about it. Thankfully, it doesn't have to be a huge project. There are plenty of ways to transform your blah bathroom into a soothing and beautiful place to get ready in the morning, and to wind down at night.

Start by inspecting your bathroom. What is it exactly that you are unhappy with? Is it the old shower, the decrepit tub, or the lack of storage space and towel racks that is leaving something to be desired in your bathroom? Once you've labeled the problem area, you can quickly get things back in order and up to your standards.

If you have a small space, and would like to just open things up a bit, try a new paint job. A new color can really transform a room, and for cheap. If you're working with dark walls, try lighting it up, not only will it liven up the room but it can make the room the larger with lighter colors. Also try adding a mirror, whether it's a couple smaller ones, or one large one, it will instantly add dimension and space to your room.

Having enough storage space in your bathroom is very important. Without it, you probably feel cramped and disorganized, and it will ultimately make the room look smaller. Invest in a new piece of furniture, like a bathroom vanity, to hold your bathroom accessories and toiletries in a neat and beautiful organizer. It makes cleaning up a lot easier, and you'll find the room bigger due to less clutter.

If it's the tub that is leaving you disappointed, then that's easy to fix. Go to your online shower store, or bath and shower retailer and look for some new enclosures or a new bathtub. There are so many variations and options to choose from, that you're sure to find a new setup that is both, practical as well as aesthetically pleasing. You will quickly find yourself consistently looking forward to that evening bath, some bubbles and a good book!

If you're unhappy with your bathroom, stop settling and do something about it. Updates do not need to come at the expense of your wallet, just be smart where you update and how you transform your room into the master bath that you've always wanted and you'll be loving your new room in no time.
