One of the first things you were told when you found out that you were suffering from Crohn's disease was that there is nothing that will help you get rid of it completely. There are many great treatments for the symptoms of this condition, but the cure for Crohn 's disease has yet to be found.

As with many other conditions, there is research ongoing, and this research is something that you can be a part of if you wish. These clinical trials test new medications and treatment regimes all of the time, and the ultimate goal is to one day find a cure.

Most of the clinical trials you will find will be for new prescription remedies. There are drug companies that are constantly developing new drugs in an effort to help with the symptoms and find the cure.

These companies need to try these drugs out on real people with Crohn's, and many times they will pay you to undergo this treatment. They want to know if the drugs are helping you, and they also want to know about any side effects that the drugs may cause.

Many trials are done with some participants taking the real drug and others are getting a placebo. You normally won't know which you are given during the trial. It is important that you know all of the risks involved before you decide this is something that you want to do.

You should always talk to your doctor before you decide to enter into any clinical trails. They may think you should not do it for a variety of reasons, and other times they may tell you that you are a great candidate. Once you get the okay from your doctor, there are many answers you should have clarified before you sign up.

You should be clear about what is required of you in relation to time spent. Will you have to stay away somewhere, or will you be allowed to stay at home? What risks are involved to you and your health? Will you be cared for if something were to happen? The answers to these questions might help you make up your mind.

Take as long as you need before making your final decision. Take everything into consideration, and then look for what others have said about participating in clinical trails for new drugs and treatments. You can usually find these online. Many are happy to have been included, and some have found that they have felt better than ever before.

This is something you would be doing for yourself, but also for the good of everyone else who is suffering with Crohn's. Don't feel bad if you don't want to do it for any reason though. You should also consider that you might be involved in finding the cure for Crohn 's disease. There may be no better feeling in the world for you if that were to happen, and you may help thousands to feel better, even if it's not a total cure that is found.
