Getting Together With Family - Playing Backyard Games

One of the best things about family get-togethers in playing games together. If a person has a big backyard and the weather is nice, outdoor games can really get the whole family interested in joining in. Sometimes, though, there are games that not everyone can play. Horseshoes might be too heavy and dangerous for the littlest members of the family. Badminton or Frisbee might be too athletic for grandpa and grandma. You are in luck, though, if you know about the Cornhole game. It can be played by almost everyone, and it is a lot of fun, too. The Cornhole game got its start in either Ohio or Illinois, depending on who you ask. Those who play it all the time sometimes even have tournaments for it, but there is no reason why you have to be that competitive. You and your family can just play for fun, and all of the family members can get involved in the action.

For people who have never heard of the Cornhole game or do not know how to play it, the rules are really very easy. There is a two foot by four foot board with a hole in it, which is raised up on a base and slanted toward the player. The board has a hole in it. The player stands a specific distance away and throws lightweight cloth bags at the hole. If a bag goes into the hole, the player scores points. If a bag lands on the board and remains there points are also scored, but not as many as getting a bag through the hole. Bags that fall off of the board or bags that do not make it to the board are not scored, and are not worth any points. The first player to reach twenty-one points wins the game. Players can also play the Cornhole game in teams if they wish, or if there are a lot of people who want to play. This usually works well for larger families, and can be a good option for a bigger group of people.

Because the bags are lightweight ? usually filled with dried corn or beans, or with light plastic pellets ? they can be tossed by almost everyone. This is important, because it allows everyone from young children to the elderly to take part in this type of activity. It is fun, but it can also help to bring families closer and make memories that will last a lifetime. In the fast-paced world of today, this can be difficult to do, but the Cornhole game can help to make this possible once again. The game easily fits into the bed of a pickup truck, and a smaller version of the board can be purchased as well, allowing it to fit in the trunk of most mid-size and full-size cars. This lets people who enjoy playing the Cornhole game with their families take it to almost any gathering where it can be enjoyed. Whether you buy one or make your own, the Cornhole game can provide hours of fun for family get-togethers and other special events.
