Respect

Respect
Condition of being esteemed or honored
A sense of the worth or value for a person
An appreciation of a personal quality or ability
Acknowledging the great and good in another
Not being blinded by the color of a brother
Realizing that every fool, friend, and foe
Has gifts, talents, and abilities to show
If we'd only humbly allow them to grow
Awake to the goodness within so they might know
They're not alone in their earthly effort to go
Into the glory they inwardly see and sow
Their lives tirelessly to eventually arise and be
To find and flourish in their identity fruitfully
Beyond the categorical groupings of society
Respect gives places to differing opinions
Without diminishing another's value within
Celebrating diversity among people happily
Honoring the person over the performance
Applauding the unique essence and brilliance
Of every human being as they themselves express
Content to see everyone do their very best
Lovingly ready to help a soul through a test
Rejoice when someone is specially blessed
Not entering into ridicule, belittle, or be a pest
But continuing on joyously with childlike zest
Graciously partaking of people's gifts
While not using the generosity of the giver
Contributing equally from your own quiver
Not withholding, denying, or causing to shiver
With cold, callous, heartless disinterest
By which many are selfish and self focused
The will, whim, and work of the individual
Should not take preeminence making us miniscule
Moving us into meandering around me, myself, and I
Causing others to go without and inwardly cry
As we ourselves live a vain, futile lie
Such a self-absorbed life is no way to live nor die
Far better than pretentious me and selfish my
Is to recast the preface, premise, and reason why
We toil, live, labor, love, and lord ourselves over
Others whom we should selflessly serve from the heart
A life of sacrifice and service is a glorious work of art
Making even the uneducated appear brilliantly smart
As they discard their rights and unload their cart
Of personal pride, pursuits, and their agenda
Which if only lived for alone causes espundia
For in order to greatly live we must greatly give
A life spent only on me is a life spent pitifully
Created in the image of God there is a divine duty
A necessity for a mutual respect and common courtesy
Being power hungry and greedy dwarfs your destiny
Incorporating others into your blueprint and strategy
Will bring forth multiplication and growth exponentially
A win for you is a win for me
The reverse is true simultaneously
Therefore let us entreat one another respectfully.
