Almost everyone wishes to have healthy, supple skin. In fact, it is one of the most sought after qualities in the world. If you want proof, just look at how many people get acid peels and face-lifts, or how many anti-aging products are out there.

But is it possible to have great skin naturally, without resorting to dangerous and painful procedures? The answer is a resounding yes. The first step to naturally great skin is to stop the activities you engage in that are harmful.

This article is going to reveal three of the most damaging things you can do to your skin. You will want to avoid all of them if you wish to remain youthful for many years to come.

Smoking- As obvious as this one sounds, it is amazing how many people continue with this skin-wrecking habit. Smoking will rapidly age your facial skin, giving it that stiff, leathery look. If you currently smoke, I suggest that you quit now. There are many programs available that will make the nicotine withdrawal much less severe. After you quit smoking your skin will start to repair itself. Over time, it will regain its elasticity and suppleness. Smoking is terrible for your skin, as well as the rest of your body. Do what you can to stop now and you will be rewarded with slower aging and better health.

Too much sun- You have probably seen people who have received many sunburns over the years. How does their skin generally look? Usually, it is deeply lined and has a rough appearance. Hardly what you would call youthful looking. This illustration shows the importance of being prepared if you are going to be in the sun for any length of time. Use sun block every time you're in the sun for more than fifteen minutes. This will allow you to enjoy sunshine while minimizing harmful effects.

Chronic dehydration- Not drinking enough pure, fresh water causes skin to lose its vibrancy and allows toxins to accumulate. This causes acne and a whole host of other skin ailments. You need to drink plenty of water to keep your skin in good shape. I can't believe how many people neglect the simple practice of drinking adequate amounts of water. The benefits are huge. Your skin will look much clearer and more alive when you are well hydrated. Wrinkles will begin to melt away as well. Take this point very seriously as it is critical to the health of your skin and your body as a whole.

By avoiding the three skin aging habits above you will be able to have glowing and healthy skin well into old age. The best way to preserve youth is to stop indulging in the activities that take it away. Watch for these and other habits in your life. Doing so will give you rich rewards that will last a lifetime.
