Do you know what the word "attention" denotes? It stands for concentration of one's mental powers upon an object or an activity. Are you capable of controlling your attention? The capability to control your attention, to direct your focus at the point of your attention bestows you with an ability to create your environment.

Your attentive concentration feeds you with energy and motivates you to study, to work, write projects, plan your schedules, etc. The capacity of your attention helps you see a situation or a problem in detail as well as whole and enables you to handle situations with wisdom to direct them toward your goals. You create your own awareness by focusing your attention on your objectives. Thus you could learn to control your attention and create a successful environment.

When you control the wanderings of your attention, you are controlling your awareness and thereby your consciousness. Attention is the most energetic aspect of our creation. We could also choose our focus to pay attention to our specific needs or desires. Think for a minute where you are focusing your attention in your life. So where are you focusing your attention in your life? How does this fit into your vision on how you want your life to be?

Try these exercises:

Focus your attention on relationships: Learn to notice how frequently you bond with others. You would understand your skills in bonding with others. This would help you to change your behavior towards others.

Focus your attention only on positives for a whole day: Pick any day. Tell yourself that you would focus your attention only on the positives for that whole day. That would mean you would not say a single negative statement, complain about anything, fight with anyone, would not get stressed over on anything or anybody, etc. At the end of the day you would realize that focusing your attention only on the positives makes you feel pleasant and realize that life is not as negative as you thought. You might feel hard to do this exercise. Try it just for one day and feel the difference in your attitude and approach to life.

Focus your attention on speaking only positive words: Pick another day for another type of exercise. On this day, you would focus your attention on speaking only positive words. Try to compliment others. Praise others for simple deeds they do to you. For example you could say a "thank you" to a guy at the gas station for filling up gas. Notice the happiness they feel when they are respected for their deeds and in return you get back the same respect and happiness.

Here are some more tips to help you guide your attention:

1. Set aside a half-an-hour from your normal daily routine.

2. Sit in a comfortable place, in a comfortable position.

3. Start visualizing about what you really want in your life.

4. Make a mental list of those things you want to manifest.

5. Focus your attention on those things that make you feel happy

Focusing your attention on your dreams and visualizations could actually manifest them! But, watch out where you focus your attention on because it works with negative ideas as well. Your attention would fill you with increased energy and inspiration in life. Try focusing on your attention starting today.
