Acciaio: Materiale Eterno Dai Mille Utilizzi
Dalla rivoluzione industriale ad oggi le tecniche di produzione e lavorazione acciaio inox si sono notevolmente sviluppate e modificate e l'industria dell'acciaio si è andata specializzando in diverse varietà di settore che rispondono oggi alle numerose richieste ed esigenze di mercato e di applicazione.
Si conta una produzione annua media di 1 miliardo di tonnellate di acciaio che viene lavorata nell'industria attraverso numerosi processi di produzione fra cui si ricordano ad esempio la fusione, la forgiatura e lo stampaggio.
Parlando comunemente di acciaio può venire in mente quello utilizzato per lavelli, mobili o l'uso nella meccanica, ma l'industria dell'acciaio produce numerosi varianti per diversi settori e l'impiego di questo materiale oggi è veramente vasto. Nella siderurgia moderna si produce acciaio essenzialmente da minerale o dalla fusione di rottami di ferro che viene poi in seguito lavorato con il procedimento della laminazione e della colata per ottenere la forma desiderata per il suo impiego con lavorazioni conto terzi.
Il conosciuto acciaio inossidabile viene abitualmente utilizzato nell'arredo bagno, per rubinetti e ripiani mentre si trova in cucina nel piano di lavoro e in diverse strutture di contenimento. La sua robustezza e praticità infatti lo rende molto pratico e funzionale in quei mobili ed oggetti di costante utilizzo più esposti alle sollecitazioni e al consumo.
Utilizzato nei settori più svariati oggi sta diventando sempre più importante il suo impiego in costruzioni civili e industriali e nelle stesse strutture di edifici monumentali; tutto questo perché l'acciaio è sicuramente garanzia di durata e forte resistenza alla corrosione. Ecco perché architetti ed ingegneri hanno molta considerazione di questo materiale e il suo utilizzo nell'edilizia è sempre maggiore. Così infatti le vecchie travi e i pilastri in cemento armato vengono sostituiti da tiranti, pilastri e puntoni in acciaio nelle nuove strutture in metallo.
L'uso di questo materiale non rimane solo diciamo nelle parti non visibili ma il suo utilizzo nella carpenteria metallica si segnala anche in grate, elementi di rifinitura e profili. In queste strutture esterne dove l'acciaio viene colpito dalla ruggine, la sola in grado di colpirne la sua natura di metallo eterno, attraverso raffinati e particolari processi di saldatura acciaio inox, verniciatura e rivestimenti, l'acciaio viene protetto e reso resistente ad ogni attacco esterno.
