Safeguard your computer with anti virus software

Whether you have got a new pc or an existing system in place you need to ensure that you have up to date anti virus software in order to protect you from any malicious behaviour. Sometimes you will get a version free with your computer but if you don't it's recommended that you get one as soon as possible. If you are on a budget don't worry there are many options in which you can take advantage of, some anti virus software is freely available which is capable of finding the most up to date virus' out there. Which ever anti virus program you go with be sure to keep the automatic updates turned on so that you will get the updates as soon as you connect to the internet, if their available that is.

New virus' are constantly being created so it's imperative that you keep on top of it. be sure to run the software to ensure you haven't got any virus' already on your pc, this will make your pc be safer and run a lot quicker if you eliminate any worms, virus', Trojan horses or any other type of problem. Once you are confident your computer is virus free you can carry on as normal, the anti virus will run in the background constantly checking the new files. Always scan new downloads, especially if you are unsure of the author to make sure they are safe to use.

If you don't keep the virus definitions up to date you could be sending sensitive information to people without even knowing, this means your credit cards, paypal or bank account could be in danger if they get into the wrong hands. People can even use software that logs the keys you press which means they can gain access to your email accounts and all your other passwords.

Many people don't even realise the level of danger they could potentially be in if they were to leave virus' and Trojan horses on their pc. If you feel you have a security issue and your anti virus won't recognise it you can always perform a format/reinstall. This will wipe everything of your hard drive so be sure to keep backups of the files you need. Only select the necessary files as if you take everything and install them again, chances are you will pick the infected files again and install that onto your computer.
