Today, there are plenty of data entry jobs available on the Internet. Many companies are expanding, and as a result, are hiring people worldwide, to help them with their workload. However, keep in mind that you have to be somewhat careful when choosing which jobs to accept.

Ok, first up, what exactly is a data entry job anyway? Well, data entry is the act of entering information into a computer. This could include regular typing or entering figures.

There are 2 types of data entry jobs:

1. Traditional
2. Non-traditional

A traditional work at home data entry job entails entering data into the computer for an employer, and getting paid a specific amount per hour.

A non-traditional data entry job means becoming your own employer, and feeding data into the computer. This is usually in the form of pay-per-click advertisements.

So really, how does it work? Well, let's assume you're selling online digital products from Clickbank; for example, ebooks on cookery. Now, each time someone purchases that product through your ad, you get paid a healthy commission!

And how do you get paid? Easy! Clickbank lets you review your stats anytime, (yes, even if it's 3 am in the morning!) and see how much commission you've accrued. They also mail checks every 2 weeks.

Is a work-at-home data entry job right for me?

This is the million dollar question you have to ask yourself, before committing yourself to a data entry job. Take a couple of minutes to answer these basic questions:

• Will my family support my new career choice?
• Do I possess self-discipline?
• What are my strengths and weaknesses
• Do I enjoy flexibility?

Are there any special skills required for a work-at-home data entry position?

Not really. However, here are some attributes that'll definitely come in useful for this type of work:

• Computer literate
• Attention to detail
• Organized
• Dependable

How do I find the perfect data entry job?

Well, considering the number of scams lurking on the web these days, it's pretty hard to find a genuine online data entry position. Many companies out there require you to pay a one-time membership fee to access a data entry job directory. Avoid these like the plague! They are just scams waiting to rip you!

Remember, honest and legal work-at-home data entry opportunities will not ask you to pay a single red cent to work for them.

To get back to the topic, you do get real data entry jobs out there on the Internet. However, they are scarce, and often, there's fierce competition to land them. Hence, you need to have an excellent resume and impressive typing skills, to get your employer's attention.

Above all, you need to keep in mind that it can take you weeks, sometimes even months, to get yourself a work-at-home data entry job.

Having said that, if you do snag a genuine, high-paying data entry position, it would be fully worth the wait, wouldn't it? So go ahead and do a search on your favorite search engine.
