If you're looking for a way to maximize website traffic, this article will show you some simple steps you can do today, that will help you do just that! Now, obviously the simplest option, and one that will guarantee results within minutes is pay per click or PPC. You simply sign up with any of the top PPC advertisers, like Google AdWords or yahoo, create an ad, work out your daily budget, and they will place your ad right onto their search engine pages when someone looks for information. The keywords you bid on when you created your campaign determines what particular audience see's your ad. Of course this can be very costly, and really must only be tried AFTER you go through some FREE and simple ways.

I could write a whole book on some easy and free methods to maximize your website traffic, but in this article I will outline one very simple method that will help you in your quest. lets say we are building a website about traffic generation, I would grab a free keyword tool like good keywords (search for this in Google) and type in "traffic". Good keywords would do a search on overture, and send you back the previous months search terms for that word, aswell as a count on how many times the keyword was searched for. What we are looking for is the term "web site traffic"

Today, good keywords returned a result of 29,237 searches for the keyword "web site traffic" Now, if we tried to get our site in the number 1 spot for that search term, it would be almost impossible, so the trick is to scroll down even further to the terms we think we could get somewhere with, I have found maximize web site traffic to be a decent option. I would then search on Google using the chosen keyword, but putting it in quotations like this: "maximize web site traffic" this returns much broader results. After doing this Google returns a result of 12, 700 pages! Now, if we took a look at the number 1 spot's website for that search term, and delved deep into their web page coding, we could easily make a web page that could beat that site hands down.

How would we do this? Okay, I would write an article exactly like this one, and submit it to a few article directories, and then add a link to my website at the bottom of the article, making sure that we use the same keyword we chose as the link text. This works great with search engine's. You could also submit the article to Google friendly sites such as squidoo or usfreeads.com, making sure that the keyword you want results for is used as many times as possible without ruining the article altogether. Try making the search term BOLD aswell, this can help tremendously because Google will think that if the words are in bold, they must be important! If you submit your article to article directories like ezinearticles.com, make sure you dont use bold too much, or even use your main keyword constantly throughout the article, as it will fail their reviews.

You can also turn the article into a single web page on your site, and use the search term you want results for in a h2 header. Within a few days, you should see some results in the search engine's as long as you do everything I have outlined in this article. It doesn't just stop there though, use the same method for all other search terms that are in good keywords, as long as they are long tail keywords, or keywords with a small amount of traffic, you could have number 1 spot for 100 different keywords which bring in around 10-20 visitors per keyword a month. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind an extra 1000-2000 visitors a month from this, instead of trying to battle it out with all the top guns for the main keywords! Utilize this method now, master it and you will be well on your way to knowing how to maximize website traffic!
