Using the exercise equipment in the fitness center is not very difficult, but neither is it something you should attempt to use it on your own when you visit a fitness center for first time. I would recommend that you should sign up with a professional trainer for at least one session. This is simply to get you started on strength and cardiovascular program. I believe even workout veterans have plenty to gain from a session or two with a professional trainer.

A trainer can teach you the correct techniques of using the variety of exercise equipment on:
how to grip a barbell,
how far to pull down a rope, and
how to adjust a machine to fit your body.

These are some techniques that are tough to adopt from a health and fitness book or video.

A good trainer can teach you all this and more. Unfortunately, the industry has its share of impostors.

Five Reasons to Hire a Trainer

Consider hiring a trainer if you are in any of the following situations:

First Reason
You are totally out of shape. If the physical exercise in high school gym class was the last time you had worked out, than a personal trainer is a great way to bring you into the shape. A lot has changed over the years, from the physical equipment to proper stretching and strength-training techniques. A trainer can get you comfortable in your new environment and start you on a fitness program that is appropriate for your fitness level. If you work out wrongly or using the wrong technique you may hurt yourself.

Second Reason
You want to update your program. You can hire a trainer for a session or two to re-evaluate your workout regimen. If you are feeling stagnant, a new routine can give you a jump-start and ultimately improve your fitness level.

Third Reason
You want to design an exercise program to achieve a specific goal. For example you want to run your first half marathon in six months, but you are not sure on:
how long to train,
how far to run,
how often, or
how hard to train.

A qualified trainer can design a workout program that will hep you to achieve your goal. Your can seek out a trainer who specializes in the area you want to work on, such as:
losing weight,
building strength, or
getting fit for the half marathon.

Fourth Reason
When you are recovering from an injury or illness you want to develop nutrition strategies to complement your fitness program. When you have a specific condition such as lower back pain, or if you've just had surgery on your knee, a trainer can help you get back on your feet.

Fifth Reason
A personal trainer will help you to stay motivated and be accountable to yourself. He can challenge you and push you towards the next level.

The benefits of hiring a physical fitness trainer are tremendous. The enthusiasm, encouragement, deep knowledge and his focus could be a success or failure factor in your fitness and weigh-loss program.

At the end, both your muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness would improve greatly while working out with him.
