Furbaby Heroes - Part 2
We also learned about Belle, the first non-human recipient, who received the Eli Lilly, "Lilly of Life" award, after calling 911 and barking incessantly into the receiver at the emergency dispatcher on the other end. Belle's owner had collapsed on the floor from a severe hypoglycemic attack, and would have most likely died, if it weren't for the quick thinking Beagle.
Now our hearts are being touched again with more wonderful life-saving furbaby stories.
In Seneca Falls, New York, a seven-month-old, 100 lb. Rottweiler puppy awoke her owner with nonstop slobbery kisses, when Zoey's owner tried to get her to lay back down, she wouldn't and kept insisting her owner to get out of bed. So Jim Leonard rolled out of bed to let Zoey outside to do her business, but Zoey wouldn't budge - after some prompting and bribing she walked outside, but continued her strange behavior. When Mr. Leonard walked back inside, he noticed a strange, obnoxious smell, which turned out to be Methane, an extremely dangerous gas. The gas had seeped in from the septic tank through a faulty trap in the bathtub! Zoey awakened her owner before the situation became life threatening.
If you ever come across a chance to save an animal's life, don't think twice about it. It all may be part of an elaborate, higher plan, where the beloved animal will happily return the favor. That's what happened in Missouri to Dawn Wyman.
Ms. Wyman happened to walk by just in time to save a four-week-old, Lab/Border Collie mix puppy, whose owner was trying to drown her. Dawn saved the puppy's life and took her home. Three years later when Ms. Wyman was going to retire, Sarah Grace, the three-year-old Lab mix, would not let her go to sleep. Sarah Grace kept jumping up and down, until Ms. Wyman got out of bed to let her outside. Sarah Grace made dodged to the garage door and began to claw at the door, whining. Ms. Wyman thought a squirrel or possum must of entered into the garage - but upon opening the door, she was met by large flames that had already engulfed the garage. Ms. Wyman ran for her 15 and 16-year-old daughters and woke them both up and called 911. They all escaped the flames, but the house didn't make it. If it wasn't for Sarah Grace's insistence, the family may not have made it, either. Sarah Grace does not consider herself a hero -- she was just "paying it forward."
Those are only a handful of stories among many. After reading these stories, you might consider our beloved animals more than just our best friends, our beloved confidants who give unconditional love - they may be angels in disguise.
If you would like to read more of these inspiring stories, punch in animal news or animal miracles into your search bar.
