Directory Submission Service
When submitting to directories always make sure to check what kind of links they are accepting, or browse through the categories, and make sure that the links are good links, and not negative links that the search engines would not highly value, and some of these links could be gambling, sex, drugs, or anything to that nature cause a lot of search engines don't like these type of websites well I shouldn't say like, but don't value them as much.
I don't really thinking this would have such a negative effect on your website directly, but I can assure you that it won't have a very "positive" effect on your rankings, and won't have a very good trust rank area with then Google, other things we want to look for when we our submitting to directories is to do class c checks, always make sure that these directories are not on the same class c bridge cause that is not good.
I would say some of the most valued links that give the most bang towards the search engines are paid links, and yes sometimes this can be expensive, but quality links can out weigh several hundred free directories at times, and I have learn this from experience as an seo.
