After repairing the area(s) on you car and would like to paint those area (s) yourself here are a few things you should do before painting.

The tools you need are masking tape, medium to fine grit sandpaper, primer, newpaper or the correct auto body paper so you don't get paint on the things you do not want painted, exact paint color you can get the color mixed in a container or spray paint. You can get these things at an auto body repair store.

To get started You need to sand the area(s) with the fine sandpaper. You don't just sand the area(s) you worked on,you should also fine wet sand the area(s) that have good paint on it already so the new paint sticks to the car body.

Now when you are done sanding wash off the area(s) with water and dry with a towel. After dry its time to apply primer. The primer you need is sandable primer.Because you will need to sand some more. When painting with the primer, you keep the spray can of primer about 8 inches away from the area you being painted and go back and forth with the primer lightly.

After the primer has dried, you will be able to see some imperfections. If ther are imperfections use the spot putty and apply some to fill in the scratches and dings. After the putty has dried You will need to sand again with the fine sandpaper. Then apply another coat of primer. If everything is even and smooth. You might need to repeat the process over and over again until the area(s) are all even.

Clean the area with water and dry with a towel. Now its time to put the paper and tape the area around the area being worked on.Put paper and tape on the windows and areas you do not want to paint. Now you apply the body paint, again holding the can about 8 inches away and go back and forth lightly spraying the area you are working on.

The next day when the final coat of paint has dried,if there are little imperfections.Wet sand the area with the fine sandpaper.Wet sand means use water when sanding. Then clean the area, dry witha towel and apply another final coat of the car paint.
