The holidays are just around the corner. If you have a family, then it's probably prime time to start planning how all the holiday festivities will pan out. For those cold snowy days, spend some quality family time indoors and celebrate the holidays with some hot cocoa next to the fireplace. Here is a list of seven holiday movies that the whole family will love.

1. "It's a Wonderful Life" is a great family movie. The moral of the story is to have the right perspective on life because even though horrible things may occur, this life truly is wonderful. Generally, children under six may not understand the themes in this movie but it is never too early to teach your child about love, life and the importance of family. This is technically not a holiday film, but definitely a flick the whole family should see.

2. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is a great holiday film for all ages. As a cartoon it is a little more child friendly and the sing-along aspect of it is great for those happy children who get pumped for the holidays.

3. "A Christmas Carol" is a classic. Although there are over thirty adaptations of this film, the 1951 version is a great family film for children of all ages. Though it is a little ghostly, this Christmas tale reminds us all that holidays are not about gifts and material things but rather friends, love, and family.

4. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is a film that captures the true meaning of Christmas. This film is wonderful for all ages because it depicts Charlie Brown trying to restore the proper holiday spirit that is so easily lost in all the gift giving and song singing.

5. "Miracle on 34th Street" is an original masterpiece. This film prompts the question, "is there really a Santa Claus?" Though it may spoil the magic of Christmas icons, this film is very suitable for anyone over the age of seven.

6. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is a great Dr. Seuss tale that has been around since 1966. This movie is great for all ages and because it is only twenty-six minutes long, it's a wonderful film to show your loved ones each year. Children never get sick of this timeless classic. The story makes a large impact and all the characters are original and fun.

7. "Frosty the Snowman" is another great film that recognizes the true spirit of the holiday season. This is a great story of a snowman magically brought to life. It's great for children of all ages. This is another film that tells us that Christmas is not just about gifts and money.

There are plenty of great holiday flicks for families of all kinds. These are just seven of the most popular films out there. Check out your local video store and pick out a holiday movie that will bring your family together.
