Now that you've decided to begin creating niche sites the next logical step in the process is to decide what kind of niche site you want to create. That is, you must pick a niche topic. Once you've done that, you can pick a set of niche site keywords to use in order to attract search engine spiders to your site, as well as actual human visitors.

How do you pick a niche topic? It's as simple as coming up with a set of 10 possible topics and then using a search engine to search for sites relevant to your topic of choice. You want to then pick the topic with the least search engine pages returned. This is so as to avoid an overly saturated market-you want your site to stick out, and if it's among 20,000 similar sites, it won't

So if you go to Google and perform the following search:

poker

Search results - 115 million pages found. This number is way to high for you to compete, so lets be more specific.

"texas holdem poker"

Search results - 1.53 million, so although this is a high number it's only about 1% of the previous total - so lets take this as our niche topic.

After you have picked your topic, you can proceed to picking niche site keywords. How do you pick niche site keywords? Why should you pick niche site keywords? What is keyword density and how much of it should you strive for? These are all questions to be answered in this article.

How do I pick niche site keywords?

It's a question many people who are new to the idea of niche sites ask. People want to know how they are to pick niche site keywords. Fortunately, it's pretty easy.

After you have picked your niche topic, sit down and do some searches for sites similar to your topic. So if you plan on building a niche TV review site, look for other niche TV review sites. Try to notice a keyword pattern on those sites. Most likely, you'll see the pattern of one particular relevant keyword-such as TV reviews-being used several times throughout the content. This keyword is known as the primary niche keyword, something that is used several times to attract the attention of search engine spiders.

Now that you've done that, write down the keywords on these sites that jump out at you. Plan on using some (or all) of them on your own site.

If you have chosen a niche topic that isn't particularly well-known, you will have to come up with some or all of the niche site keywords on your own. In this case, think of niche site keywords that can be applied to your site. If you are running a bass guitar site, for instance, try to think of 8 keywords or key phrases that are relevant to bass guitar. Perhaps you'll choose to use keywords like "bass, bass guitar, acoustic bass guitar, lead bass guitar etc." The point is, come up with keywords and key phrases that are a good fit for your site. After you do that, pick one of them to use as your main keyword or keyphrase. Use that 10-20 times per 600 words of content.

Why should I use niche site keywords?

Why shouldn't you? They are useful and essential to the creation of any niche site. How many visitors you are able to get usually depends on your site's ranking in the search engine. The higher you are ranked, the more likely a person who is searching for your topic will see your site and visit it. In order to achieve a high search engine ranking, you need to have enough keywords so that the search engine spiders will visit your site. After all, these spiders are responsible for finding and adding sites to their search engine.

It is important to note that you should never, ever overuse niche site keywords. Only use niche site keywords enough to get spiders to visit. Never use them so much that humans won't want to come to your site-they are the ones who click the ads, which makes you money, so you can't afford to turn them off to your site.

What is keyword density?

Keyword density is the number of major niche site keywords divided by the total words in a piece of content. So if you have 20 niche site keywords in a 600 word piece of content, you'll have a keyword density of about 3%, a good number.

The ideal keyword density is between 3 and 5%. Anything less-or more-is considered bad for the site.

So this explains how we choose a niche site topic, how we choose some keywords for it and also what keyword density we want to aim for in our content (page content) - if you'd like to know more you can go to follow the link in the biography below.
