Are you one of those fortunate people who have a bedroom large enough for another piece of furniture at the foot of your bed? You can utilize this extra space to add another functional or decorative item. If you want, this space can be used to display a choice piece from a flea market, or you can just add your own. Depending on the amount of space you have, you're sure to find the perfect piece. Here are some things you might want to consider for placing at the foot of your bed.
Storage Bench - It doesn't matter if you choose either an upholstered or a wooden piece; a storage bench gives you a great place to stow your linen, pillows, blankets, etc. You can sit on it while putting on your socks and shoes, and a handy place to put your bedding at night.
Low Cabinet or Trunk - While a long, low piece may look better in most rooms, even a taller piece will work well. You can conveniently store your CDs, books, bedding, and anything else that you use in the bedroom inside the drawers. A trunk can hold pillows and blankets. A nice piece of wood furniture gives a good balance to a bedroom's upholstered look.
Chairs - If you love to read in your room, you could put two small upholstered armchairs or side chairs at the foot of the bed. An ottoman and a reading lamp will provide you with a comfy, relaxing nook anytime of the day or night.
Wicker or Iron Seating - The foot of a bed is a great place to put an unusual piece of furniture, one that has "character.". Iron or wicker pieces are great for casual interiors or rooms with a classic look. Add a pretty plaid or floral cushion to correspond with the rest of the room.
TV Cabinet - The newest "must-have" for a bedroom is a cabinet with a TV that goes up and down at the touch of a remote control button. By day, you have a cabinet or bench, and by night you have an eye-level flat screen TV! This option is quite costly, though, so be prepared to shell out a bit more for this.
Table - If you have a small round, oblong, or oval table, this will work perfectly. Get a floor-length tablecloth that matches your room. If you have more space, add a small side chair on each end of the table. A pedestal or library table can provide space for books, collections, family pictures, or a small stereo. I recommend getting one that is not more than 8 inches taller than the top of your mattress.
Loveseat - This is great to put at the end of a king or queen-sized bed. Add a nice floor lamp to provide some soft light, decorate the loveseat with some cushions and an optional blanket, and you're ready to go!
Writing Desk - With a small writing desk at the foot of your bed, you'll be able to use and enjoy your bedroom during the day. Read a book, write a letter, use your computer or make a phone call in the privacy of your bedroom.
These are just a few of the pieces that you can use to add that extra touch to your bedroom. With a little bit of creativity, you can find some more ideas to put at the end of your bed.
