Samsung have recently released what is arguably one of their most attractive handsets to date, the S8500 Wave. Offering excellent functionality and unique design, the Samsung wave is appealing for a number of reasons.
Internal memory within the Samsung Wave is 2GB/8GB as standard for storage of data such as media files including music tracks, video clips and photos. A micro SD slot is included for this purpose also, which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB. This should be adequate to store most people's entire digital music collection. The internal phonebook can store a seemingly unlimited number of entries and included the ever popular photocall feature.
The Wave measures 118x56x10.9mm and weighs in at a pocket friendly 118 grams. Its light weight and compact dimensions also make it a comfortable phone to hold and use on the go. The handset is finished in a dark grey colour scheme with sophisticated silver buttons and detailing.
The 3.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen utilises an impressive pixel setup of 480x800 to display up to 16M colours. This offers an unparalleled level of display quality with high levels of detail and definition. Te screen also features and accelerometers sensor for auto-rotate, multi touch input method and is made from scratch resistant materials.
As you may expect, the S8500 Wave is equipped with a built in digital camera. In this case it boasts 5 mega pixels offering great quality still images. The pixel resolution of 2592x1944 means the pictures offer excellent detail and the inclusion of autofocus and LED flash simplify the task of taking great quality still images. The camera can also shoot video, in 720p quality at 30 frames per second. This is amongst the highest levels of video quality available on a mobile phone camera.
A combination of different features is utilised to keep the S8500 Wave connected to the internet and to cellular networks. In areas covered by 3G, an internet connection is available at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second thanks to a HSDPA connection (alongside HSUPA at 2 mega bytes per second). Wi-Fi kicks in whenever a signal is detected from a wireless internet router. This allows for an enhanced web browsing experience thanks to the faster connection. In areas with little or no 3G coverage, class 10 versions of both GPRS & EDGE are utilised to provide connections to cellular networks.
A range of features makes the Samsung Wave a versatile everyday handset. The internal media player supports many different types of media file such as MP3 and MP4 and even supports DivX quality video files. An organiser and voice memo recorder are both included to increase productivity and save time, something that is sure to appeal to business users. Extra entertainment features include a stereo FM radio player and a selection of pre-installed games (along with access to a library of extra downloadable games), so users are spoilt for choice.
The winning combination of appealing style and versatile functionality means the S8500 Wave looks set to be a winner for Samsung.
