The Afterlife

The afterlife is something that thousands of people think about every day. Also, there are many possibilities that can happen after death. One, you go to heaven or hell, two, you roam the Earth and/or space as a spirit, or three, nothingness. In reality, the latter choice is the most likely. Explained here in this article are a few theories that support the first two choices.

Whenever you lose your memory, it's like the event never happened. For example, many people who get concussions don't remember getting the concussion, it's just a blank between one point and the next. There was a beginning, a blank, then a next. As anyone who has had this happen to them, they will say they don't remember feeling pain or anything. An example that everybody can relate to is not remembering one's babyhood. The earliest memory you have is probably two or three. To you, it's like being a baby never happened, your consciousness appeared at two or three. The bottom line: Once you forget something, it's like it never happened. So what does this have to do with the afterlife? Well, once you die, you shortly forget everything that you've ever done. Your brain dies, it loses everything it holds. That means since you have forgot everything, it is like you have never lived your whole life, and you should not be aware right now. Therefore, there must be an afterlife, one where you still remember everything you've ever done, which would allow you to be conscious right now.

There have been documented papers which recount the statements of people close to death, saying they see dead family members, white light, and other stereotypical dying things. Some of these recounts are quite similar, and that can be used as proof of an afterlife. However, scientists explain this as the final chemical reactions in the brain, and that would cover why all the experiences are very similar. Along with people who have permanently died, people who have died and then been brought back to life have said that they have seen the afterlife, and many have told strikingly similar stories. But still, it can all be discounted with the "chemical reactions" excuse. If scientists continue to study dying brain reactions, it could actually be possible to scientifically discover if there is an afterlife. It's possible it's already been discovered, but it's being covered up with some "government conspiracy." That's a joke (or is it?)
