Spending time at the Day spa is a sure way to release you from work-related and day to day stress. For first timers and even for day spa frequenters, it is a smart idea to know about some useful pointers to help you make the most out of your day spa visit.

When going to a day spa as a walk in client, do not expect that you will find an available slot for your spa treatments right at that very moment. Especially during the late afternoon period and on weekends, most spas are fully booked. Call the spa first, inquire and book your appointment much earlier than your preferred day. This is to make sure that you will get a guaranteed service from the best therapist. If possible, book your appointment at an off-peak hour on weekdays to avoid the bustle of people at peak periods.

Therapists are either male or female. When booking, inform the spa right ahead of your preference in a therapist. If you happen to be satisfied with the services of your therapist on your first day spa visit, you may request for the same person on your next appointment. Although, do not keep your hopes high as that therapist may not be available the next time.
Stick to the time of your appointment and practice punctuality. Keep in mind that the spa operates on an hourly schedule. Each therapist is assigned to different clients throughout the day. In case you are late, your spa session will be shortened. All spa clients should leave the treatment room within ten minutes to make way for the next client. You may stay a while and linger in the waiting room if you so wish.

If you are a first timer at the spa, one staff member is usually assigned to give you a detailed reception. You will be given a tour around the facility and you will be informed about the regulations of the spa and what kind of services to expect.

In case you wish to cancel your appointment, inform the spa as early as possible. About 24 hours before the appointed time for single spa service and at least 48 hours for service packages would be required for cancellations. These time details would give the spa enough time to fill in your canceled slot. Remember that some policies of spas require some payments for cancellations.

Majority of spa goers are attired in casual garments when visiting a day spa. The reason for this is to easily take the clothing and place it inside the lockers prior to the actual treatment. Treatments like hydrotherapy are basically done on bare bodies but if you have modesty issues, then inform the spa of your special concerns. In saunas and pools, the general attire is a bathing suit or no clothes on. Spas with bathing facilities usually provide robes and slippers to their clients.

Whatever your preferences are, do not hesitate to make them known to the day spa staff. The same way, if you have a specific medical condition tell it to the staff as some treatments may not be applicable for you.
