Volkswagen Phaeton debut at the Geneva Motor Show

Volkswagen Phaeton is going to debut at the Geneva Motor Show and scheduled to hit UK market this summer of 2007.

The Phaeton reflects the subtle evolution that Volkswagen's pioneering luxury car has undergone. The new Phaeton features advanced technical and mechanical revisions. The debut of the Phaeton is at the same time the premier of its new 3.0 litre V6 TDI engine which delivers 238 PS, a 13 PS increase the outgoing V6 TDI engine.

The new common rail direct injection of the Phaeton meets the stern Euro V emissions standards ahead of the 2009 deadline. Its new front lights that feature bi-xenon bulbs designed to adapt to the direction of the front wheels to light up the road accordingly. And that's not all there is also the LED running lights which are integrated within the headlamp units with a new re-profiled bonnet.

The front and side scan system is fitted to the Phaeton for the first time. Its front scan can automatically bring the vehicle to halt especially in extreme circumstances especially if its sensors
Sense a hazard ahead. The sides scan on the other hand inspect the area beside the vehicle for any form of obstacles to ensure that everything is clear and safe before it transmit to the driver that it is safe to change lanes. In case of obstacle, a warning is transmitted to the driver.

Unlike any of its rivals, the Phaeton has an entertainment system that is very easy to operate. It also come equipped with a sophisticated new Bluetooth-enabled phone complete with voice control and the capacity to store 1,000 contacts. The Phaeton is also equipped with only the best quality auto parts which only Europe's largest can provide such as the VW brake calipers. The VW brake caliper is designed to withstand extreme heat as friction is optimized resulting to a more efficient running service and huge savings in terms of maintenance and replacement costs.

The Phaeton has also received aesthetic enhancements which consist of two newly designed 19" alloy wheels that set it apart from its predecessors. The new Phaeton serves as the technical showcase for the Volkswagen range. The standard equipment offered in Phaeton includes four wheel drive, 4Zone climate control, CDC or Continuous Damping Control air suspension with automatic self-leveling and three ride settings, plus an advance navigation system which is accessed via a seven-inch color screen.

The standard safety systems of the Phaeton include ABS or anti-lock braking system which is linked to an Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD) and Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) that works with the Phaeton's electronic stabilization programme. The four-wheel drive system benefits from an electronic differential lock and an anti-slip regulation programme to limit any loss traction. This is in addition to a full complement of eight airbags which include side impact bags for occupants in both the front and rear of the vehicle.

There are four engine variants available for the Phaeton and these are: the 3.0-litre V6 TDI 238 PS diesel with the addition of three petrol units in 3.2 litre V6 240 PS, 4.2 litre V8 335 PS and the 6.0 litre W12 450 PS in either short or long wheelbase platforms.
