Golfing Attractions When Visiting Edinburgh

Scotland is synonymous with golfing. Even if you've never played a game - never even picked up a golf club - you will know that Scotland is the home of golf. Edinburgh alone boasts six public golf courses and there are many others within an easy to reach distance from the city.

For those visiting Edinburgh who've yet to test their club wielding skills, the city courses are a great place to start. It's easy to book a tee-time, pay and then play; the city courses also tend to operate longer opening hours than those outside of Edinburgh centre. If you're staying in one of Edinburgh's many serviced apartments, the company will provide you with details of the nearest golf course and help you book a game. Keep an eye out on the web as some serviced apartments can be rented as part of a golf holiday package.

Once you've tried your hand at the city courses, you can always venture out to one of the surrounding ranges - of which there are over nineteen in East Lothian alone. Make a day of it and take some lunch; if you're doing it properly a full game could take a while. On the way back home, you could sample one of Scotland's quaint pubs, then relax in your private lounge - another reason why serviced apartments are such a great idea, you get so much more freedom of space - before heading back out to enjoy Edinburgh's diverse night life.

Of course golfing is just one of many attractions that Edinburgh has to offer, and if you're visiting with those who aren't so keen to try, there is plenty to keep them entertained. From shopping to museums, flowers to animals, Edinburgh has plenty on offer. But if you think they'd like it, why not take them, for free, to the historic Bruntsfield Links; the world's oldest short hole golf course that can trace its existence back to 1735.
