The work of professional orthodontists like Dr Bryan Altshuller can truly change your outlook on life. One of the most common perceptions about braces is that they solely improve physical appearance. Now, it is true such improvements occur since the properly adjusting and straightening of one's teeth enhances physical appearance. However, there is another benefit to braces: they have the ability to promote improved mental well being.

No, this is not an assessment made flippantly. Rather, it is based on the common fact that when you take the steps to improve your appearance, you will also improve your self-esteem. That means your confidence will increase and so will your outlook on life. Those with such a positive outlook certainly can take great reward in the improved mental state that will result. Mothers interviewed in a survey by the American Association of Orthondontists (AAO) reported that eighty one percent of their kids said the experience of wearing braces was a positive or extremely positive experience and sixty nine percent went even further to say that wearing braces made their children feel cool. For most people however it is the improvement in appearance derived from the treatment that encourages the patient to have the orthodontic treatment.

This is not to infer that physical appearance is everything and that all of life's insecurities will go away after successful orthodontic treatment. No serious or professional health practitioner would make such a false claim. What is being said is that when one's appearance is properly and effectively improved by improving the appearance of your teeth, you improve your overall appearance. That alone yields a significant confidence boost that can have a solid ripple effect all throughout the many facets of one's life. Dr Bryan Altshuller's work has helped many patients achieve just such a confidence boost.
