Modern Metaphors

We can't go where there are not words to take us. Neither can we understand what's near impossible to articulate without the use of metaphors. History has been kept alive through various metaphors. The Old Testament is full of metaphors, which were historized in the Biblical canons. Too many of our current metaphors no longer work. We're in desperate need of new and more modern metaphors.

What metaphors can we adopt that will give us greater insight to God, put Jesus in a more correct paradigm, make the cross more meaningful? What metaphors can we pass on to our children that will be an instant code of conduct worth remembering? What kind of stories can we tell that will reawaken the majesty of life and take us on a journey of indescrible fascination?

Many old religious paradigms need to reconstructed, forgotten, or replaced with today's pictures and images.

We need to not only seek new answers, but we need to be wise and courageous enough to ask entirely new questions that will lead us into unchartered waters that will increase our awareness of every new sensation, but not freightening us by the things that go "bump in the night". In other words, we need to check our ego and insecurities at the door before we enter.

Self righteousness is not welcome either.

I think that in the end we'll discover that we all have far more in common than we imagined. Shamans, kahuna, priests. witch doctors, and spiritual healers will find many things in common with scientists and intellectuals. While we are not yet able to conect the dots, the "Aha" moment(s) are not that far away.

What metaphor cna be used as an example that will explain how the human heart can think, its cells remember, and the energy that it emits extending way beyond the limits of our solar system. Our challenges will require an environment of great tolerance and grace as we interact with one another coming togeher from wildly different communities.
