Nancy rolled down the icy mountains like a sack of potatoes while other members of her party stood in frozen silence, shocked and confused. How did this happen when they had all the gear and training necessary for this expedition? They had even taken a short refresher course and were expectantly waiting for this exciting day. The group descended and approached Nancy who was groaning in pain with blood all over the icy surface. She was too dazed to speak but looked at her friends in amazement for she did not want to believe that it happened to her.

Medical help came and Nancy was soon in hospital for treatment for her fractured hip joint and ankle. After months of therapy Nancy was able to walk independently, even though they had said she may not be able to give up her wheel chair. She thanked the medical staff for their great job. She thanked God that it was not a fracture of her spine. Indeed it was a narrow escape from death or even life long disability. Nancy would always tell others about her experiences and encourage them to trust in God whatever happened. Her patience and cheerfulness really went a long way in the recovery stage. Family and friends were encouraged to see Nancy face the hurdles with strength and courage without anger, complaints, regrets or winning. Nancy said, "This fall could have been worse but God preserved me from the jaws of death and now I do not need a wheel chair, it was a narrow escape."

The writer of the book of Hebrews asks, "How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" (Heb.2:3. KJV) What do we need to do to escape death? How can we escape? Many people from Christian homes know that Jesus Christ gives eternal life and salvation. Can we approach God who is holy? We are sinful and cannot enter into His presence. The Bible says, " The wages of sin is death BUT the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23, KJV) We are destined to spend eternity in the lake of fire. BUT God so loved the world that He provided a way for us to get eternal life. In His love and mercy He made the way of salvation for us to reach a Holy God. Let us thank Jesus who paid the price of our sins on the cruel tree. To receive salvation we must acknowledge that we are sinners, confess our sins and accept Him as Savior and Lord, only then we are saved. (Rom.10:8 & 9 KJV) The blood of Jesus washes away our sins and we are heaven bound, having escaped hell and the lake of fire. It is not Bible knowledge but a personal experience of commitment to the Savior. What a wonderful gift God has in store for those who decide to follow Jesus.

Come to the Savior make no delay for tomorrow may be too late, How will you escape if you neglect so great a salvation?
