Paying Too Much For Shoes?

For many years I used to buy my shoes in much the same way. I would jump in my car and drive to my nearest shoe store, which was in the centre of the town where I live.

In all honesty, this way of purchasing footwear wasn't one that caused any deep thinking on my part. It seemed like the obvious way to purchase a new pair of shoes.

Once at the store, I would look through the selection that was displayed on the shelves and various units. There would also be one of each style of shoe on display.

It would then be necessary to attract the attention of a shop assistant and to ask them to fetch the other shoe from the back room, in the correct size.

I would then try on the shoe to make sure that it did indeed fit and that it also felt comfortable. In truth, it was often difficult to get any real idea as to how comfortable they were likely to be in the long run.

Despite this, I would check that they seemed comfortable and make my purchase. It all seemed like the natural way to do things.

Was I gaining access to a large range of shoes? Was I getting the best possible deal? These thoughts rarely seemed to have entered my head - at least, not in a direct manner.

In recent times I've come to realise that I can get a much better deal by shopping online. For starters, I can now access a much broader selection of shoes. It's also possible to compare prices a lot more easily online.

Since you have access to a greater number of stores, you can quickly identify those that offer the best deals. This is great news from a consumer point of view.

There's one other trick that you can use to save even more money. By tracking down discount codes (sometimes known as discount vouchers) you can actually get even lower prices than those shown online.

These are free to use and can guarantee that you get a cheaper price. So the question to ask yourself is whether you're currently paying too much for footwear.
