Drive to Save
Do you ever wonder the exact amount of money your car will cost you? No, it is not just the purchase price of your car. It goes along with other factors.
The formula to calculate the amount that will cost you when you have a car is actually: the brand of the car plus the type of car plus the freight (if it will be delivered) plus the condition of the car. The last addend is comprised by the repair and maintenance expenses plus the accessories (if you want to customize your car). Now, did you get the sum?
You cannot really get the actual amount but you can more or less find the estimated cost by considering those aforementioned addends.
The best thing to do in order to minimize cost but ensure quality is to plan. Make a list of the things you will use the car for. Understand and take into consideration what you need and what you want. A need implies necessity while a want implies luxury.
Along with this planning, also consider the gas consumption. Of course, prefer the one than consumes less. Many of the modern cars offer less gas consumption. Also make sure that you have time for repairing and maintaining it; or else, you will experience a loss in investment. The garage space is another important factor to consider. Make sure your car will really be in safe place once it is parked in your garage.
Say your planning is done. You now have your desired vehicle. Be sure you have read and understood the owner's manual before getting for a drive. In that manual is stated every thing about your car; say, whether your car can use other aftermarket performance parts like Detata wheels or any other parts.
The next thing to do is to follow some vital tips to minimize driving expenses through fuel efficiency while using your car.
Make a schedule of your car's tire pressure check up every month. For every pound they are under inflated, tires diminish fuel efficiency by 2 percent. Moreover, under inflation causes premature tire wear. In effect, this gives your tires a shorter life.
Drive at a limited speed. This is to avoid the risks of car crash. And when you are driving in low gears, avoid being fast. In the improper gear, driving at high speeds can diminish fuel efficiency by up to 40 percent.
If you got a convertible, use basically do not use air conditioning always. But for those non-convertibles, as much as possible, better avoid using air conditioning. Fuel economy is reduced by 10 to 20 percent when using the air conditioning system.
Opened windows at high speeds reduce 10 percent fuel efficiency. So as an alternative for open windows, utilize the ventilation system. To maintain a steady pace on the highway, use cruise control. This increases fuel economy.
You want comfort. So a rough road is a big "NO". Avoiding rough roads contribute to increased fuel efficiency. Thirty (30) percent is the reduced fuel economy when driving on dirty roads as well as on those with gravel.
Modern cars are engineered to be driven immediately. Turning your car off and turning it on again is more efficient than letting it idle for more than 45 seconds while waiting.
It is also advisable to remove all unnecessary weight in your car. A car trunk is not a storage space. As huge mass of weight is only applicable to trucks and other auto mobiles which are especially designed to carry heavy luggage.
To further avoid waste in fuel, brake moderately and avoid stops when driving. This is to ensure gentle acceleration. Avoid driving in areas where traffic is stop and go. But there are cases that these areas are inevitable. So if you are caught in such traffic, try to maintain a crawl. Accelerate before the hill when approaching hills or steep slopes.
Regularly check your car's oil, filters and alignment. Blocked air flow from clogged air filters reduces fuel efficiency. Deformed alignment causes engine drag that also decreases fuel economy.
To check whether you are consuming too much fuel or not, periodically inspect its fuel efficiency. Possible mechanical problems are the implications of a loss in fuel efficiency.
Fuel will really consume so much of your money when you do not avoid circumstances that consume them a lot.
You do not drive to consume, you drive to save.
