The flash feature in your cameras is a very important tool used in photography. Although it is highly useful, you do not have to use the flash feature at all times. There are instances when you have to refrain from using it.

Find out more about the use of flash feature by reading the items found below.

Indoors Seldom Need The Flash Feature

When you are taking puppy photos inside a room, it is best that you refrain using the flash feature of your cameras. The pictures would result to deep shadows and lesser color as well. It would also sometimes look stark white that the natural color of your puppies would be masked by the light coming out of the flash.

For such lighting conditions, you can use the auto mode instead. The camera will be the one to decide if a flash is needed or not. But if you are already a skilled photographer, you can use the auto mode less and decide for yourself if the flash feature is needed in taking the puppy's photos.

The usual rule in using flash feature in the indoors is disabling the system when you are within 10 feet or more from the dog. It is best to use other sources of light when you are taking puppy pictures from inside your homes. You can use head lights, lamps, or even the windows for added brightness.

Stay Away From Reflections

Avoid positioning your puppy in front of the mirror when using the flash feature of your cameras. Overexposed photos can result if the puppy's pictures are taken in front of the mirror.

Slow Exposures Do Not Need The Flash Feature

When you are taking dramatic photos of your dogs, the flash feature is no longer required. The slow shutter speed allows you to capture puppy photos that are detailed and rich in color. The flash of cameras can only shine or illuminate to up to 12 feet. Anything beyond this range is no longer visible.

When taking slow exposures of your puppies, you need a tripod to steady a shot. Some cameras also have anti-blur effects which helps create nicer photos.

Use The Night Mode Instead Of The Flash

The flash in a night mode feature is actually very different from the usual flash feature. In a night mode, the flash comes off briefly so it may only provide enough light that you need. The pictures wouldn't be devoid of colors and would still look nice despite the presence of light. It also helps if the camera is steadied so blurry puppy pictures can be prevented.
