Cheyenne is the largest and capital city of Wyoming. It was founded in the year 1867 by Major General Grenville Dodge. He is the Union Pacific Railroad's chief engineer. The city became the Territory of Wyoming's capital in the year 1869. By 1890, it became the state capital.

Cheyenne Attractions
Historic Governor's Mansion- This is located at 300 East 21st Street. It was home to the governors of Wyoming from the years 1905 to 1976. They are open with no charge from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9am to 4:30pm. Their phone number is 307-777-7878.
Nelson Museum of the West - This is located at 1714 Carey Avenue. It features 11,000 sq. ft. of exhibits, cowboy trappings, Indian artifacts, outlaw memorabilia and 19th century weapons. They are open Mondays to Fridays from May 1 to October 31 at 9an to 4:30pm. Their phone number is 307-635-7670.

Cheyenne Botanic Gardens - This is located at 710 South Lions Park Drive. T features a greenhouse conservatory and a diverse flora. It also houses the Historic Locomotive 1242 as well as the Western Walkway and the Old West Museum. They are open with no charge from Mondays to Fridays at 8am to 4:30pm and from Saturdays to Sundays from 11am to 3:30pm. Their phone number is 307-637-6458.

Big Boy Steam Engine - This is located at 17th Street and Morrie Avenue along Holliday Park. It features a powerful coal-fired engine that was designed to pull 300 ton trains over steep grades between Ogden, Utah and Cheyenne.

Cheyenne Resorts
Little America Wyoming - This hotel-resort has been operational for more than 60 years now. It is regarded as a "welcome oasis for weary travelers". Salt Lake City is only 150 miles away while the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone Park is only 300 miles away.

The hotel has a total of 140 guest rooms. Amenities include high speed DSL access, digital flat screen TVs, complimentary HBO, hair dryers, irons with boards, propane and RV dump. They also have a fitness center, US Post office and seasonal outdoor pool.

Pets are allowed in this hotel but only for select rooms. They also have handicap accessible rooms. Check in time is at 3pm while check out is at 12nn.

Terry Bison Ranch Resort - This ranch-resort caters to almost every event you can think of. They have an RV Park, Trading Post, restaurant, 13 bunkhouse rooms, 7 cabins and many more. They even have a place for kids, they provide special meals and they can give bison tours.

Their RV Park has about 86 hook-up sites. All are 70 foot "pull through" sites having 20, 30 and 50 am services. Aside from this, they have dry sites and tent sites with no services. For their cabins, they have 7 one-bedrooms with modern facilities. However, they don't provide glasses, utensils, cookware and dishes. There are also cabins with either a kitchenette or a full kitchen.

Their historic bunkhouse has 13 rooms. Every room can accommodate 2 people. It has a shared bathroom, a shower as well as a living room. Don't expect cable TVs and phone lines here because it's a ranch. What they do have are laundry rooms, propane, Wi-Fi and complimentary showers. For kids, they have a playground, a basketball court and 2 horseshoe pits.

Generators are for dry sites only. Dogs are accepted as long as they have a leash on campground. There is also a charge if they stay in the cabin. Their rates vary depending on the length of stay and if it's an RV site or cabin you're getting. For cabins, the nightly rate is $89.95. For bunkhouse rooms, it's $58.95. For RV sites, it's $31.95.
