Handling Setbacks

Life is a grindstone. Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up depends on us.
-Thomas L. Holdcroft

Setbacks as we may call them are an evolutionary process which is necessary to our development. They are a learning stage. Sure, we may face trying times but what is important is not to get stuck in that moment. We must learn to lift our mentality beyond what can be seen, and go deep within ourselves for answers and solutions.
To remain stuck is to be weak and defeated.

Whatever life may throw at you, a real victor is one who overcomes circumstances. People who triumph have a higher level of thinking and penetrating insights. They take what are big problems to the average thinking man to be minor annoyances. They shrug off problems and never go around talking about how bad things are. Whilst the average man will jump on the whining and blaming bandwagon,. … people have a strong faith and simply knowing that they will come out unscathed. They are doers at the supreme level, with an awareness that there is a Universal force ready to help them.

You must learn to shift away from negativity and make it your objective to create the circumstances you wish to see. There is nothing to be admired in whining or mourning. No one wants to be around a whiner. Whining drags others down and saps out energy. On the other hand, victorious people are those whose energy levels are always high. Despite what problems they may face, they resonate with positive energy. They are people who appreciate every situation, treating problems as learning processes.

Instead of wallowing in self pity, they are filled with self love. They see their strengths, and are aware of the power within them. Their self worth is located within, and do not see problems as threatening their status as people. To reach such a level of thinking, we must strive to be emotionally detached from problems and be led by our supreme consciousness. This is the only way we can successfully handle 'setbacks'. As long as we have a low level of consciousness, focusing on all the negative things, we will continue to attract the circumstances we do not wish to see, we will not learn from problems but rather continue to be victims. Breaking this cycle requires shifting our mental attitudes.

Please ponder on the excerpt below from one of the greatest authors in spiritual growth. One cannot fail to admire such a supreme mindset, and it is quite clear that people with such a level of thinking walk over obstacles with sheer effortlessness, because they surrender to the One above it all and have a much higher level of mental attitude.
