Flax seeds have a high amount of Alpha Linolenic Acid, a type of essential Omega 3 fatty acid that the body converts into EPA and DHA. These are two of the three essential fatty acids. They also contain large quantities of essential Omega 6 fatty acids. The amount of Omega 3 found in flax seeds is much higher than the amount of Omega 6 they contain.

Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA) is an essential Omega 3 fatty acid that is converted into DHA and EPA. This is a great way to reduce your risk of heart disease, to lower your cholesterol level, and to control high blood pressure. The ALA from flax seed oil works better than that of fish oil because fish often contains mercury that is dangerous for the body.

DHA is and Omega 3 fatty acid that ALA produces. It is essential for your brain to function properly. Not getting enough DHA can lead to mental health issues, visual impairment, ADD, Alzheimer's Disease, and depression. The last Omega 3 fatty acid is EPA. It helps prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, inflammation, and arthritis. Some people have had good results with controlling lung disesase, kidney disease, Type II Diabetes, obesity, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease,. anorexia, osteoarthritis, ADD, and Colorectal Cancer by increasing the amount o EPA they have in their body.

Another item to discuss in relation to flax seed is Omega 6 fatty acids. They are essential for the brain to function correctly. In children who have ADD, they often suffer from lower levels of Omega 6 than other children. It can also assist with preventing nerve disorders including diabetes, skin diseases, allergies, and tuberculosis.

Both Omega 3 and Omega 6 are essential fatty acids that your body needs in order to function properly and for you to feel good mentally. Most of us eat a diet that provides us with too much Omega 6 so to restore the balance you have to increase the amount of Omega 3 you consumes. Fax seed helps your body find that balance again.

There are flax seed oil supplements that you can take so it is easy to add it to your daily routine. Do so if you want to be a healthy physically and mentally as you can be. This is a very simple way to fight heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, diabetes, depression, and Alzheimer's.
