Among its various other aims the organization strives to keep the rich heritage of the game alive. It is the controlling organization under which there are several other regional organizations and affiliated clubs that together organize the World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting. They are the bearer of the rulebook containing how the Cowboy Action Shooting matches should be played. Besides these, the S.A.S.S is also dedicated towards securing to its members the rights of the 2nd Amendment.

The End Of Trail is the biggest Cowboy Action Shooting championship which is organized by the SA.S.S. the popularity of the organization and the sport can be gauged by the fact that almost 2000 participants take part in the sport; and what is more spectacular is that more than 25000 spectators cheer them on through the day.
