Planning a baby shower? Here are some amusing games to play that will be sure to add some fun to the party!
How Big is Your Belly?
Ask the guests to cut a piece of string or yarn to the length they think the mom-to-bes belly is in circumference. The mom-to-be will then wrap each string around her stomach, one at a time, to discover which woman guessed right. Whoever has the closest measurement gets a prize.
Guess the Baby
Have guests bring baby pictures of themselves in advance. Every guest must match the baby picture with the other guests. Whoever gets the most correct, receives a prize.
Birthing Babies
Buy some plastic babies and freeze them in ice cubes. Place one in each of the guests drinks. The first person whose plastic baby breaks out of the ice and floats to the top, gets a prize. The winner has to yell, My water broke!
Do not Say Cute
Attach a bunch of little safety pins to one big safety pin. Ask the guests to attach the large safety pin to their shirt and let them know about the forbidden word, i.e. cute or baby or anything else you might like. If anyone hears another guest say the forbidden word, she gets to steal one of her safety pins. Whoever has the most safety pins by the end of the shower wins a prize. Cute is a great word when the mom-to-be is opening gifts during the shower.
Messy Diapers
Buy some candy bars and melt each one into a disposable diaper. Use some candy bars that are not as common to jazz it up. Label each diaper with a number and have the guests write down which candy bar they think is in the diaper. Allow them to use all their senses (including taste) to determine which candy bar it is. A prize is given to whoever guesses the most right. Remember your camera!
Advice
Cut out footprints and handprints and ask guests write advice or suggestions on them. Place them inside a little book for the mom-to-be.
Stork Bingo
Take blank bingo cards and hand them out to each guest. Have the guests fill in what they think the mom-to-be will get for a present. While she is opening her presents, guests scratch off the item from their card. The guest who gets a bingo first, wins.
Word Scramble
Scramble a bunch of baby related words. The guest who unscrambles all the words, gets a prize. You can set a time limit to make things more interesting.
Nursery Rhyme Lines
Write down one line from a nursery rhyme. Have the guests guess which nursery rhyme the line comes from. The person who gets the most right wins a prize.
Guess the Baby Food
Take off the labels of various jars of baby food and re-label them. Ask the guests to guess the type of baby food by looking at the jar without opening it. Whoever gets the most correct, wins a prize.
