90% of all Americans have less than perfect credit. Most people do not know how much bad credit affects their lives everyday. Bad credit prevents many people from living where they want to live, driving the car they want to drive, and working where they want to work. Bad credit is a big problem because a large percentage of the population is not educated about their credit. The lack of knowledge leaves the door open for a great opportunity to help the community, and make an amazing income. All it takes to start your own credit repair business is a little know how.

Starting a credit repair business is not as complicated or expensive as you may think. First, you must research all state and federal law governing the credit repair business profession. Most states have few regulations because federal law, namely the Credit Repair Organizations Act, has strict congressional standards of practice for a credit repair business. You will need a business license for the county and city your business is located in. You will also need business cards, which you can find for free at www.vistaprint.com. You will also need a smart advertising plan, which will be your biggest expense. This business can be done from home on a part time basis. All you need is a computer. This saves the expense of office space.

Finding clients for your credit repair business is one of the easier tasks. Friends, family and co-workers will be your first source of clients. Real estate professionals are also a big source of quality referrals. Realtors and Mortgage Brokers come across lots of clients who have less than perfect credit. These clients desperately want to buy their own property, so they are great candidates for your services. Car dealerships, and any other kind of business that deals with financing can also be ideal sources of referrals, but you must approach them in the correct manner. This is something I learned the hard way.

Repairing a clients' credit is all about knowledge of the laws and knowing how to deal with creditors, collection agencies, and credit bureaus. The process of removing negative and erroneous items from a credit report is a very cut and dry process, but knowing how to correspond with the credit bureaus is a very delicate process. You must know exactly what you are doing, because a mistake during this process can cause lots of damage to your client's credit profile.

The billing process for a credit repair business is simple. I charge my clients a set up fee of $99. I collect this fee upfront, before any work is done. I also have each client sign a 12 month contract at $30 per month. The contract is worth $360, 12 months times $30 per month. I sell this contract to a factoring company. They pay me 80% of the contract, or $288 upfront, so I can keep a positive cash flow for advertising and other expenses that come up. The factoring company takes care of all the billing tasks. The clients pay them directly. Awesome deal!!!!!!!

The credit repair business is booming. Learning how to start a credit repair business has been a hot topic in many online blogs and message boards.
