It goes without saying that fashion and fashionable accessories have always been essential to the modern woman. Perhaps one of the most effective ways to make your look stand out is to have a designer watch that is both practical and stylish. No doubt you wont want just any old watch that anyone could pick up as it is important to you that you find a watch who's style will represent who you are. For the uninitiated in can be difficult to know what to look for when buying a watch so here is a guide to some of the main features you should pay attention to when you are out shopping.

The face colour refers to the background colour on the face of the watch. This may sound perfectly trivial however it can make a real difference to even the simplest of timepieces. The main requirement you are looking for in a watch face is readability. There is no point in choosing a watch which has an attractive face colour if it renders the watch unreadable. Watch faces come in such a variety of colours that your range of choice is virtually endless. You will be able to find jewel toned colours like emerald or sapphire as well as more classic colours such like white, black and bronze. If you are looking for something a little more unique you may wish to choose a patterned watch face.

Another aspect of your watch to consider is the type of watch strap. Again it is important to find a colour and style which you will enjoy. Make sure that you choose a colour that will complement any other jewellery or clothing which you are likely to wear it with. As an example if you commonly wear white, gold ,platinum or silvery jewellery items then you may wish to choose a white gold or silver watch band. On the other hand if your jewellery is mostly gold then a matching gold strap would be the best option.

Once you have decided which colours are most appropriate the next aspect to decide on is the shape and style of the watch face. You would be surprised at how much of a difference the face shape will make to the overall look of the watch. If you you wish to stick with a more traditional style then buy all means pick a circular face, but if you really want your watch to stand out then consider a watch face with a more abstract shape. Even the more 'boring' shapes can come in distinctive variations.

Not only do you have to consider the colour of your watch strap but you also need to decide what material would be most suitable. Watcj straps come in a range of different materials - from rubber to metallic styles with each having their own unique benefits. Of course comfort should play a big part in your decision making as you wouldnt want to spend your money on an expensive watch that would just end up being painful to wear.
