Around the year of 2015 American's world as they currently know it willchanges dramatically. To think about the concept of becoming #2 in theworld makes people's hair stand up on their back of their necks. Theconfidence of the Country is going to be shattered and a newpsychological outlook will emerge. What will the country look like? The Economics of #2:Acountry in the #2 position has a marked disadvantage in terms of itsability to obtain advantageous trade agreements, business contracts anddevelop a lucrative business environment. One of the reasons why thebusiness environment will become more difficult is because there isless leverage. The best contracts are reserved for the country in the#1 spot. The citizen of the #2 country may find that theirmoney doesn't purchase as much as it did in the past and this is due inpart to the declining value of the dollar. When the dollar is deflatedin price it purchases less bread, goods, and products. Therefore, thestandard of living declines and people must learn how to do more withless. It is also important to know that the cost of borrowingmoney as well as making purchases increases and this causes the economyto decline domestically. Corporations and businesses cannot expandwithout some level of in-house cash reserves. With interest rates beinghigh and additional fees on borrowed money the economy will become morecash and carry in orientation. The Psychology of #2:Whena country is in the #2 position it naturally changes the way itapproaches and deals with other countries. No longer can politicianscome in like a "bull in a china shop" (no pun intended) and must usemore finesse then bullying tactics. Since there is a country strongerthen the U.S. in the world we cannot have our desires imposed on othercountries without them at least appealing to the #1 position. Americansare also unlikely to be as confident about their future as they were inthe past. Therefore people will come to the understanding that theyhave a lot to learn from other countries and this will push Americansto work harder, open up their minds and learn about the world aroundthem. The "American Way" will not be the only way. It is alsolikely that a country that moves into the #2 position will change theway it looks at important social issues. Since America is a countrystriving against great enemies all the social issues that plague thenation in terms of gay marriage, affirmative action, women's liberationwill fade into the background. There will be less tolerance for peoplewho sway from what is seen as "American". Even though thecountry will appear the same on the inside as it did in the #1 positionthere will be a new found reality that will move into the Americanconscious that we are not the "chosen" ones. Americans will come to therealization that they must strive for success and simply sitting forhours idly in front of the television won't make that happen.
