Dell and HP are known worldwide for providing exceptional and technologically advanced laptops and desktops. Not only computers, even their printers, scanners and peripheral devices are highly rated. Even though both these companies enjoy a steadily growing dedicated fan base, there are some points on which both of them are remarkably different. These points actually lay the foundation of the company and are in fact what the company is all about.

Made to Order Dell and Pre-Made HP:

Almost all of Dell's computers are customized to the customer needs. A customer first places the order and states his wants and the desktop is then made according to his demands. This way, Dell has almost a negligible chance of losing money even before the money is shipped to the consumer. On the other hand, HP makes its computers beforehand and it needs to rely on smart marketing tactics to attract consumers. Even though these completely different working of the companies may favor Dell, HP gains the upper hand in the other aspect.

Since Dell has a made to order working, there is usually a downtime of at least 7 days after which you will get your computer. In case you ordered a part in your Dell computer which is not easily available, then you probably ad a few more days. HP, on the other hand has computers available which can be have had almost instantly.

HP follows a standardization policy in the building of its computers. This means that a hard disk in a particular model of HP would remain of the same make in all the computers of the same model. However, in the case of Dell, you may find a hard disk of different companies used in computers of the same model.

Dell and HP technical Support:

HP technical support and Dell technical support also differ quite a bit. You will get a warranty of an entire year on all Dell products. The best part about Dell support is that you can get all your problems solved by calling up Dell tech support. Their onsite warranty is also quite good. On the other hand, HP also offers a good initial warranty but will not support any or every problem that you might face. For this, you will need to but additional packages of warranty. However, people are of the view that the onsite HP support is better than Dell. HP tech support, just like Dell is available in all the country of the companies operations.
