Put 20 contestants in a house and have them compete against each other to walk away with a big money prize. Sounds like the potential for weird and wonderful contests is vast and, in this year's Big Brother, the line-up of tasks given to the housemates has been nothing short of eclectic. As the last ever Big Brother looms to a close, here is a roundup of the best and worst tasks completed in the show so far.

To welcome in the arrival of new housemate Laura, a secret task was given to three housemates in partnership with the digital channel Dave Ja Vu. In order to win a party for the entire house, the three chosen contestants had to each create a fictional story about themselves and repeat it at three times throughout the evening - hence the deja vu connection. If all three of them could successfully do that, and drop in their necessary individual keywords of ‘elephant', ‘swimming trunks' and ‘Merthyr Tydfil', then the whole house will win a party.

Housemates were left speechless recently as bona fide wannabe pop star Andrew Stone made an appearance to help them win a task. The bizarre ‘artist', best known for appearing on the fly-on-the-wall show Pineapple Dance Studios, arrived at the Big Brother house to instruct housemates in a Glee-style all-singing, all-dancing performance. With all the housemates being given characters for the performance, from jocks to geeks and cheerleaders, Stone judged each housemate individually to decide which part they should play in a supposedly ironic cover of Journey's ‘Don't Stop Believing'. Once aired on the Big Brother website, if the video doesn't get over 100,000 views, they won't pass the task.

Continuing on the pop culture theme, female housemates were asked to dress up as superheroes for a task, with the reward being a significant shopping budget that week. The men, however, were trapped in The Cougar's Lair, and it was the superhero's job to rescue them. For some reason, the girl's had to rescue them by standing with their hands on their hips in front of the lair, staring as ‘intensely' as they could, whilst wearing the revealing outfits. Even though not all of them were able to manage this, the team eventually won the task and the budget was increased to a whopping £500.

Housemates were recently left baffled as, one by one, their shoes started to disappear. Fearing the worst, it was announced that housemate Josie had been the mastermind behind the series of thefts, all in the name of winning more alcohol for the group. Based on the simple equation of shoes equal booze, Josie had to steal as many as she could without her housemates finding out, however she could pick one housemate to help her on her mission too. As Caoimhe whined that she couldn't find her ‘little trainers', Josie and her sidekick John James giggled as they pocketed 21 pairs of pumps, heels, trainers and mens shoes in total, giving the housemates a pretty decent supply of drink.
