What a season for the Buffalo Sabres and fans. They have taken home the President Trophy as the top team in the National Hockey League throughout the regular season. They finished with 53 wins and 113 points.

They will be playing the New York Islanders in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday night puck drops at 7:08pm. This should be an interesting series. Ted Nolan returns to the playoffs against his former team. He will have his team ready to be physical and try to pound the Buffalo. Buffalo has the advantage because of their speed. Throughout the games during the regular season the Islanders got out skated by Buffalo. In the last game it took all of ten minutes into the first period to score 5 goals. Buffalo then seemed to relax a bit and slide through the next two periods. You can bet come Thursday with the home crowd the Sabres will come out flying.

If you watched any of the NBC telecast Sunday during the Buffalo and Philadelphia game you have to wonder did the announcers know what they were talking about? It was painful to listen too as a fan of Hockey. They didn't focus on the play by play but again like last year focused on History. This does a major disservice to the game of hockey. If a new fan was trying to watch the game they would not have understood what was going on.

A possible match up that sets up maybe an interesting match up for the finals. Buffalo vs. Detroit where Hasek would take on Miller in between the pipes. Sweat revenge could be upon Buffalo as the post season unfolds.

Here is one Prediction that I will stand by in the first round. The Pittsburg Penguins will defeat The Ottawa Senators.

That's all for today
