Consistency is the ability to be the same, all the time. It's reliability. It's uniformity. It's many different things to people. For people with ADD, the term consistency may have several meanings.

For you, it might be constant evolution, constant growth, and making sure every new project that you work on is bigger, badder, and more exciting than the last one so that you can manage to stay extremely motivated to work on it. Of course, that's going to eliminate boredom.

Maybe you can think of things where you're being really consistent right now.

But then, it often happens that somebody's telling you that you have to do something in a certain way. If you're in a situation right now where somebody's telling you that or you're thinking to yourself, "I should be doing this,"-and "should" is the killer word there-number one in being consistent is this: There are no "shoulds."

If your system isn't ADD-friendly, it might not be working for you right now. If you're spending a lot of time spinning out of control or spinning because of the fact that you think you should be doing something, it's your responsibility to change it. You get to do that and you have to do that to be successful with ADD.

That's so important. When people look at consistency, they look at this concept, they look at this idea and you really just need to ask yourself, "Am I accomplishing what I want to accomplish?" If you're not then people will say, "Well, it's because you're inconsistent." If you are accomplishing what you want to accomplish, people just assume you're really consistent, whether you have ADD or not.

When we say to develop awe-inspiring consistency, what we're really talking about is amazing yourself. When you have ADD, that's really what it comes down to. Amaze other people if that's what you want to do. It all depends on the type of person that you are and how ADD affects you.

Amaze yourself into saying, "How do you accomplish so much? How are you able to work like crazy on all these crazy projects that you're working on all the time? How did you skyrocket your ability to make money or transform your life or turn yourself into the peak model of health or whatever it is you're working toward?" Such a big part of it is not about being consistent, it's about being extremely excited all the time. It's about working with the strength of ADD.

Keep reading. We'll have more on how people with ADD can accomplish what they want to accomplish, by using their ADD to do it.
