Considered as one of the smallest smart phones by Nokia, 5500 focuses on sports and is meant for people with an active lifestyle. With dimensions of 107 x 45 x 18 mm and a volume of just 77cc, it can easily be called a diminutive handset with a plethora of features. The phone can be seamlessly switched into different modes (phone, music and sport) with the help of an instant swap key and is incorporated with an accelerometer which enables pedometer functionality for sports tracking.

Nokia 5500 is a tri-band GSM Symbian S60 smart phone with features like Bluetooth, EDGE, infrared, 8 megabytes of internal memory with microSD memory card slot, as well as a 2 megapixel camera. Additional features like the FM radio and an LED torch further enhance the appeal of Nokia 5500.

This sporty handset is hard and rugged, sports a steel and rubber battery cover, and as claimed by Nokia, is dust and water resistant. Meant for the physically active users, the USP of Nokia 5500 is its speedometer or step counter that comes with a 3D sensor to measure the distance you cover while walking, running or rowing. Also, the optional voice commentary keeps you updated on your calories burnt or distance traveled while you are exercising or running.

Its in-built music player is compatible with a range of formats, including MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA and AMP. The integrated camera clicks wonderful snaps during daylight, and in the evenings the night mode works just fine. It even records videos with sound at 176x144 resolutions).

Everybody's expectation from a mobile phone varies. If you want your mobile phone to be your sturdy companion on the jogging track or a tool that aids in exercising, you shouldn't think twice before opting for the Nokia 5500.
