Having quality content is essential to a successful website. And while the world wide web does lend itself to images and pictures, text is easily the most important aspect of a website. More people will spend their time reading webpages than anything else. In fact, that's why they're called Web pages, because it is very much like the newspapers, books and novels that we spend so much time with in her daily life. It is important that you know how to write well and to be able to communicate with your readers. Here are a number of factors to consider when creating content for your website:

Simplicity is the most important factor. Not only should it be easy-to-read your webpages, but the information should be easy to find, grouped in such a way as to enable people to find exactly what they're looking for.

Take a hint from advertisements and use a lot of white space. That's all that white area you see around the black text. Try writing 500 words without any break in the text and the note how difficult it is to read it and pick out the very important points. Whitespace helps you to present your material in a way that is easy to read, easy to understand and easy to skim through to find important point if you're in a hurry. Again, take a look at how newspapers and magazines will break up their text with whitespace and images where appropriate.

Make sure your text and the background have a clear, easy-to-read contrast. Black text on a white background is standard of course for a very simple reason, it's easy to read and easy on the eyes. Refrain from using black text on orange backgrounds, green text on red backgrounds or any other garish combination. You quickly lose any visitors to your website no matter how fancy you think you are. And that includes those of you who are artistic in nature. Just because your artistic doesn't mean you don't want to communicate properly with your visitors in their proper places, not in the text and the background.

Use fonts that will display normally across a range of browsers. Today, we have browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, Flock and now Google'd Chrome. Fonts like Arial, Arial Black, Times new Roman, Courier new, Georgia, Tahoma and Verdan are among the most common across all these browsers. If you use these in your website design, then most likely you will have your website display exactly the way you wanted to, in fact, you can get each one of these Rogers yourself to test how your website will look. If you go to while the trouble to set your website up you want you want to go to the trouble to make sure it looks correct. Using fancy fonts that no one has on their computer system will only cause the computer to choose something that may not look proper.

And lastly, one of the most important features you today but you need to addressed is to make sure your webpages accessible to everyone, including users with disabilities. There are some very simple things that you can do beyond what we've already talked about. Never assign specific sizes to your text. Use relative sizes that allows the user to select the size of the fonts according to her own browser. Use the ALT tag in your images to describe the function of each one that then can be read out to the visually impaired. Provide similar descriptions for your videos. Use headings, lists and CSS for consistent layout. Summarize tables, charts and graphs. Use validation tools available on the web to determine if you've done everything possible to make it accessible to the disabled.

Remember, if you're going to take the trouble to create quality website content, you want people to be able to read it and access it. Follow these guidelines to give your visitors the best experience possible and make them want to come back for more.
