Ebay Selling Mistakes - Failure to Provide Feedback

When you are selling on Ebay, feedback is critical. Some sellers try to use their feedback as leverage. This is a big mistake.

When someone buys from you and pays for the item, they have held up their end of the deal. As a good Ebayer, it is your duty to provide the buyer positive feedback as soon as this happens.

I know that is intuitive to a lot of people. But to others it isn't. Some folks want to wait for the buyer to leave them positive feedback before they will leave feedback of any kind.

Some sellers even demand positive feedback from the buyer before the buyer receives the product. Stop and think about that for a second. It's insane. Think about it from the buyer's perspective: if you bought an item and the seller demanded positive feedback from you before you received the product, how would you feel? Would you do business with that seller again? Would you recommend that seller to a friend or a family member? No, you wouldn't.

This may seem like a minor issue to you today. But you need to think about the big, long term picture. If you stick with Ebay and turn this into a big (maybe even full-time) business for yourself, relationships are going to be crucial to your success. Word of mouth and repeat customers are worth their weight in gold. Treat your customers with respect and they will come back and buy from you again. They will tell their friends. They will tell their family. They will post messages on message boards endorsing you. That all adds up to generating more sales and more bids for your products. And it costs you nothing. All you have to do is be reasonable with your requests for feedback.

Feedback is just one way to improve the success of your Ebay auctions. Look for other ways to increase the value (and the profits) of each of your auctions. Before long, you will find yourself on the road to success.
