The psychological effect of an anxiety attack is serious and are difficult to ignore for people that suffer from them. Anxiety attacks are quite common, especially in our time given the stress we experience. However, you should focus seriously on dealing with them rather than disregard the problem after the symptoms have past. It has been proven that people who are experiencing increased and uncontrollable worry are more likely to suffer from diseases of the cardiovascular system. So, you should definitely find the right way in which to deal with the attacks.

It is best if you repeat to yourself that you have the power to deal with any problem and with the particular one that caused the condition. You might also want to occupy your mind with other thoughts when you feel the symptoms of the anxiety attack. Trying to keep busy is also effective. You can try to do anything that involves some thinking and will divert your attention from your worries and fears. It is best not to take up an important work task as this might have the reverse effect and worsen the symptoms.

When you experience an anxiety attack you have to regulate your breathing so that you can calm down effectively. You have to inhale taking as much air as possible and then exhale slowly. In order to be able to make the most out of this exercise, you have to keep your back straight with your shoulders up. Otherwise you might experience chest pain.

You should try to get out of the current room during an attack. Changing the setting always helps especially if you are in a place full of people. It is a good idea for you to go outdoors as this will definitely help to reduce your attack. It is essential not to lie down if you are at home. This is relaxing for the body, but it can lead to an increased feeling of anxiety, you will usually make the worrying and possibly the attack worse. If you do want to stay in bed, rather sit in the bed instead of lying down. Massaging your head and neck during an anxiety attack is really effective for relaxation. You might want to close your eyes as well and imagine that you are in a happy place.
