The sad reality of running an eBay business, is that the odds of you making a sizable amount of money are small.

The Small Business Administration has published statistics that state that over 80% of businesses close their doors within 3 years.

The percentage of eBay businesses remaining active is larger only because of the low overhead costs that most eBay sellers have.

But just because more eBay sellers stay in business does not mean that they are making a decent amount of money.

The lack of financial success it not due to their level of intelligence, but it's more likely related to the following reasons.

eBay Seller Failure Reason #1

Lack of information. To succeed as an eBay seller you need to be aware of the latest developments concerning eBay, and the online auction business. Visit forums, read magazine and newspaper articles on eBay, and keep up to date by reading "how to" eBay books.

eBay Seller Failure Reason #2

Access to merchandise. Not having a steady flow of merchandise is one of the top hurdle eBay sellers face. Your eBay business can come to a grinding halt if you don't what to sell. Avoid this situation by developing a good relationship with a wholesaler.

eBay Seller Failure Reason #3

Organization. eBay sellers who are not organized will not send out orders on time. The fastest way to earn negative feedback is by delaying shipment of your customers' orders. A filing system will enable you to track pending orders, paid for orders, and processed orders.
