Stress Is Carrying a Piano Around

We can become so accustomed to stress that that we don't even realise that we carry it around with us all day long.

I recently heard a true story about a man (i'll call him John) who went into work after having a disturbing dream the previous night.

A colleague noticed that that he wasn't his usual self and said, "what's up John, are you allright?"

"no, not really" said John. "Last night I was dreaming that I was about ten years old. I was back where I used to live and I was playing with my old friends - just running through the long grass and having fun."

"I heard my Mother's voice calling me to come back inside the house and I woke up."

"For a few seconds I didn't know where I was - then suddenly I felt this MASSIVE WEIGHT hit me, as if a piano had just landed on me, and it was in that instant that I realised that I wasn't ten years old anymore."

"I was 43, the person beside me was my wife, my kids were in the bedroom next door I had a house, a mortgage and a job."

"I went from being 10 years old to 43 IN THREE SECONDS and I realised that I carry that weight around with me ALL THE TIME."

If you would like to re-discover what it feels like to be stress-free, like you were when you were a small child the best solution is to learn the ancient art of meditation.

Meditation has been proven to be the most effective stress-buster and, unlike medicaction, there are no negative side effects.

For best results you need to spend fifteen to twenty minutes two or three times a day. The effect is cumulative, the more you do it, the greater the result; but it is important to be consistant and do it every day.
