Many newcomers to internet marketing are intimidated by the technical side of things such as building a web site. Web sites are critical because your affiliate marketing business can't run well without them. If you have no experience building a web site and can't afford to outsource the work to a web developer, you can learn the basics of web development yourself, or by taking classes at a community college.

Some of the basics you will need to know include the following:

Domain Registration
The first thing you'll need to do is to purchase a domain name. You purchase domain names through a domain registration company. You can do a search on the internet for domain registration and a ton of companies will display. Look for reasonable pricing. You shouldn't have to pay more than ten dollars for a domain name. Many web hosting companies have bundled packages where you can get hosting and a free domain name with purchase.

Web Hosting
Just like domain names, if you do a search on the internet you will be bombarded with a ton of web hosting companies. The best way to determine which one is reliable is by asking others who they like or by reading reviews on web related forums. Again, check for reasonable pricing, web space, bandwidth, and database access. Service varies between companies so it's best to do some significant research in this area before choosing.

HTML
HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It is the basic language of any web site. The language is very basic and easy to learn. Knowing even a little HTML can take you a long way. You can teach yourself by finding tutorials online or taking classes. It will be a big benefit to learn so that you can make updates yourself.

PHP or ASP
These are programming languages that help make your web site dynamic. Learning these are optional and can definitely help make you more self-sufficient overall when it comes to running your sites.

There is no need to be intimidated by the technical side of internet marketing. There are tutorials and forums where you can learn most of what you need to know. Give it a try and you'll probably be amazed at just how simple it can be to maintain your own network of sites.
