Wyoming is western and rustic. The state is full of western heritage and culture as well as outdoors and nature activities. There is just about something for everyone. The third Friday of every month you have the chance to see the stars like you have never seen them before. Most of us live in cities that are so brightly lit that you can't see the stars clearly. At the Botanic Gardens of Cheyenne, you have the opportunity to learn and see the stars of the Wyoming night sky. The viewings are hosted by the Cheyenne Astronomical Society.

Crystal Classic Ice Sculpting is held in downtown Green River. The crisp Wyoming air keeps the ice at the perfect temperature to be molded into a variety of different creations. The event is sanctioned by the National Ice Carving Association. There are several levels of competition including professional, semi-pro, amateur, and individuals. The Buffalo Bill Birthday Ball is held in Cody every year. The event includes dancing, food, shooting exhibitions and you must dress like an old time cowboy to fit in.

Held annually on President's Day weekend in Cody is the annual Water Fall Ice Festival. There are hundreds of frozen waterfalls in The Valley each year and ice climbers can't wait to get to them. The mountaintops in the region rise over 11,400 feet and vertical begins to form as early as October. The waterfalls do not completely thaw until the end of April. Many of the waterfalls have been identified and rate WI3-7 climbs. This is extreme climbing if you are into ice climbing. It is also a great spectator event if you don't mind the frigid temperatures. The CAM-PLEX Heritage Center is an art facility located in Gillette. Every month they hold several live performances, visual arts, conventions, lectures and receptions. They often have several performance scheduled for February. A 1400-foot square foot Art Gallery is also attached and holds several monthly exhibitions.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is famous for its winters, although it can be treacherous to get to through Teton Pass. The mountain has the longest continuous drop in the US at 4,139 feet. Cross-country skiing in Grand Teton National Park is near by and the resort offers tours through the park. There is no doubt that temperatures are cold in Wyoming during the winter, so be sure to pack appropriately. From small town affairs to white slopes, Wyoming has a wide variety of options to enjoy and see in February.
