Are you about to become a victim of someone stealing your password. It is more important than ever to start managing your passwords for safety. The internet has made our passwords more vulnerable to attacks than ever. Information is easier to access with the wide use of broadband internet.

We are required to remember a large number passwords with all the websites that have secured logins. So what many of us do, is simply the process with a simple word or use the same password over and over. Hackers are looking just for that type of person to attempt to gain access into your computer.

Tips on password management

1. Frequently change your password. The safest way to surf the internet is to change your password every 30 to 90 days. This can be time consuming.

2. Remember your password. You may need to write your passwords down on a piece of paper so you do not forget. Make sure no one has access to where you store these numbers.

3. Use Strong Password Management. You should use a series of numbers and letters (case sensitive) and at lease eight digits long. The ideal password according to Microsoft is 14 digits or characters. The more digits or characters, the safer the password. Do not use common words or names. Hackers use special software to figure these out quickly.

There are software programs available to help you store and manage your passwords. As the number of passwords grows that you need to remember, you will probably eventually want to use a password saving or management program. These programs will allow you to only remember one password for all of your surfing needs.
