Nathaniel Dett, Carl Diton, Ballanta Taylor, Edward Boatner, Hall Johnson, Lawrence Brown and others are the young negro musicians who while doing impressive solo settings are also returning bit by bit to the choral performing. Musically speaking, only the obvious resources in this sphere have been touched upon till now. Just as soon as the traditional covenant of four-part harmonic organization and the oratorio style and form are not followed any more, we may expect the development of the Negro folk music to the extend equal or even outrunning the astounding Russian choral music. With its harmonic inconstancy and interchangeable voice parts, Negro folk songs only conventionally belong to the four-part style. Being skipped measured and interpolated they turn to be the least potentially polyphonic. It can be carried out without snapping its own boundaries. Tangled and unique development in modernistic music is awaited in future. What is really interesting is why something brand new has not been contributed by Negro folk music to contemporary choral and orchestral musical yet
In addition to all said above, let us innumerate the folk song origins of the very tradition that is already classic in Europe now. Up to nowadays, the Negro music resources have been utilized in only one direction at a time: rhythmically here, melodically there, harmonically -somewhere else. The one who would organize its distinctive features in a formal subdivision would be the musical genius of his time.
